Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky, P. I., ons. 19 jan. 2022, Fra (2021/2022), Instrueret af Philipp Razenkov,, State Opera and Ballet Theater of Udmurt Republic, Izhevsk, Russia

Passion and longing, longing and passion - that's what I wanted to express in this music. I wrote it with pleasure, with joy with delight ... and very sincerely ... "- this is how Tchaikovsky wrote about the opera" Eugene Onegin ". Her music is heard even by those who have never been to an opera house in their lives. We know it by heart. Or we think that we know ... There are so many cultural codes in this message of the genius that it will never be fully deciphered. It excites the consciousness, makes us try again and again to look into this ideal frame, which reflects the whole Russian life and the feelings of people at all times. Why did Tchaikovsky call his creation lyrical scenes? After all, there are only twisted, broken destinies. All heroes are irreparably unhappy. Everyone makes mistakes and wants to turn back the clock so that they can choose a different path. But this is unreal! How long did it take between the first and last meeting of Tatyana and Onegin? Pushkin gives precise instructions - a little over four years. For Tchaikovsky, this is all life. Bright romantic dreams on its doorstep, pain from a collision with reality, lost illusions, dying feelings ... The gold of autumn foliage is more and more clearly crossed out by twisted black branches, but they are also covered with mourning white snow ... The mastery of the classical repertoire began with the staging of the opera "Eugene Onegin" at the Opera and Ballet Theater of the UR. In the year of the 175th anniversary of Tchaikovsky, the theater returns to Eugene Onegin, but at a more mature level, striving to hear the consonance of modernity in the genius music, to understand what was hidden from previous generations.
