Yutaka Sado è uno dei maggiori direttori giapponesi oggi in attività. Per il suo debutto con l’ORT, Sado presenta due capisaldi del repertorio viennese: la Sinfonia K.550 di Mozart e la Sinfonia n.1 di Mahler. Ma poiché l’orchestra malheriana ha dimensioni davvero titaniche, per poter avvicinarsi a questa partitura ricorre alla riscrittura per un numero minore di esecutori curata nel 2008 da Klaus Simon. Percorsi opposti, verrebbe da pensare. Se da un lato con la sinfonia n. 40 di Mozart chiude praticamente la stagione compositiva del genio salisburghese – chiusura che diverrà effettiva con la sinfonia n. 41 – dall’altro l’opera di Mahler dà l’inizio al grande ciclo sinfonico che lo porterà ad esplorare nuovi orizzonti all’interno della struttura della sinfonia.

Yutaka Sado is one of the major Japanese directors in business today. For his ORT debut, Sado presents two cornerstones of the Viennese repertoire: Mozart's Symphony K.550 and Mahler's Symphony No. 1 . But since the Malherian orchestra has truly titanic dimensions, in order to get closer to this score it resorts to rewriting for a smaller number of performers edited in 2008 by Klaus Simon. Opposite paths, one would think. While on the one hand with the symphony n. 40 by Mozart practically closes the compositional season of the Salzburg genius - closing which will become effective with the symphony n. 41 - on the other hand, Mahler's work begins the great symphonic cycle that will lead him to explore new horizons within the structure of the symphony.
