The Stadttheater Klagenfurt is the state theater for Carinthia and Carinthia's largest cultural institution. It is in the three-country region of Alpe-Adria (Austria, Slovenia, Italy) and is the southernmost theater in the German-speaking area. Built in 1908-1910 by the legendary architect duo Helmer & Fellner in the free Empire style, the Stadttheater celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2010.

The task of the Stadttheater is to maintain the central repertoire of theater and opera literature - as a lively art institution in the heart of modern society. Since September 2020, director Aron Stiehl and the business manager. Commercial director Mag. Matthias Walter the multi-division house with 716 seats. The Stadttheater Klagenfurt puts on more than 200 performances each season. The team includes around 270 permanent employees and 90 guests, the KSO Carinthian Symphony Orchestra and the choir of the Klagenfurt City Theater. Equipment and stage sets are made exclusively in the in-house workshops (costume department, carpentry, locksmith, painting, make-up).

The southernmost theater of the German-speaking area is located in the Alps-Adriatic region between the three countries of Austria, Slovenia and Italy. Built in the years 1908-1910 by the famous architects Helmer & Fellner in the free empire style, it celebrated its centenary in 2010.

The program includes opera, operetta, musicals, prose, concerts and ballet/dance performances as genres. The eleven major annual stagings are rounded off with performances from the ‚ Studio ', a varied program from the ‚ instead-of-theater ' initiative and the summer season. The team of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and well-known national and international guests together develop performances of a high artistic standard, as well as world and national premieres that test the cultural diversity in a modern society.

The Stadttheater always tries to be as close as possible to the audience with matinees, dialogues with artists, guided tours, a theater-pedagogical program for children and young people, and also offers a club where they learn acting. Various offers and price reductions as well as season tickets ensure that every theater enthusiast enjoys culture easily and at low cost.

Each theater season of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt includes more than 200 performances. The team consists of around 270 permanent employees and 90 guests, the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra KSO and the Choir of the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. Scenes and installations are created only in the internal workshops (tailoring, carpentry, blacksmith's workshop, stage painters, make-up / hairdresser).
