The Kossuth Prize winner Attila Vidnyánszky, the director of the National Theater, is organizing an operetta for the first time, the most famous in the world. Imre Kálmán's immortal masterpiece, The Queen of Csárdás - after the premiere of the Margaret Island Open-Air Stage - was released into the repertoire of the Budapest Operetta Theater in September 2019, in a three-part cast. The production with a particularly rich exhibition goes back to the original Hungarian version of Gábor Andor's 1916 work, which has undergone many reworkings. With its aristocratic, bohemian characters, love intricacies and catchy melodies, the piece itself was and became a monument to lightness, but it also features the storm clouds of the disintegration of historical Hungary and the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
