Turn-of-the-century Paris, sophisticated and erotic: metropolis of music, bohème, world exhibitions, the can-can ... and cradle of the best operetta libretti of the time! A diplomatic embassy meets in an anxious conspiracy, because the bankruptcy of the fatherland seems inevitable. Baron and ambassador Mirko Zeta sees only one way to save the pan-Slavic operetta state of Pontevedro from financial ruin: the millionaire widow Hanna Glawari, who has just arrived in Paris. One of his compatriots must marry her! And so begins the hunt for what is probably the most charming rescue parachute in the history of operettas: Hanna Glawari, who, however, does not face the facts described, but rather an unexpected reunion in the person of her childhood sweetheart ...

Baron und Botschafter Mirko Zeta sieht nur noch ein Mittel, wie er den panslawischen Operettenstaat Pontevedro vor dem finanziellen Ruin retten kann: die millionenschwere Witwe Hanna Glawari, die gerade in Paris angekommen ist.
