“The sky is open, life is unbound, the universe as your homeland and your will as the law.” (Henri Meilhac / Ludovic Halévy) - The focus of the music theater project “Ich bin Carmen” is the Iranian-born and German-trained mezzo-soprano Hasti Molavian. Her autobiographical strands of experience are associated with the themes and motifs from Bizet's opera Carmen. Society and gender images of both worlds are questioned by means of new image-sound compositions - between Bizet, Persian chants, Tehran original locations and personal memory spaces.
