Romantic comedy in the grotesquely lush look of naive painting - will they get each other or not?

The foundling Marie takes everyone's hearts by storm in Gaetano Donizetti's opéra comique "La Fille du régiment": As a sutler, she is the darling of the entire 21st regiment and especially of the young Tyrolean Tonio, to whom she has promised her heart. When the Marquise of Berkenfield recognizes her daughter in the young woman, however, she has other plans - a marriage befitting her status. But Marie and Tonio cannot forget each other. He reveals Marie's "past" to the aristocratic society and thus wins back his soldier bride.

With his work composed for Paris, Donizetti hit the spot for French taste and created top-class musical fun with his witty, sparkling music.

Das Findelkind Marie erobert in Gaetano Donizettis Opéra comique „La Fille du régiment“ alle Herzen im Sturm: Als Marketenderin ist sie der Liebling des gesamten 21. Regiments und ganz besonders des jungen Tirolers Tonio, dem sie ihr Herz versprochen hat. Als die Marquise von Berkenfield in der jungen Frau ihre Tochter erkennt, hat sie jedoch andere Pläne – eine standesgemäße Heirat. Doch Marie und Tonio können einander nicht vergessen. Er offenbart der adeligen Gesellschaft Maries „Vergangenheit“ und erobert so seine Soldatenbraut zurück.

Donizetti traf mit seinem für Paris komponierten Werk den französischen Geschmack auf den Punkt und schuf mit seiner witzig funkelnden Musik einen musikalischen Spaß der Spitzenklasse.
