Violetta Valéry and Alfredo Germont meet and fall in love at a big party. A love that has no place in this world. She is a famous Parisian courtesan, he comes from a respected family. Love is a consumer good and has its price. Violetta pays for this with her renunciation of love. She gives in to Alfredo's father's urging and leaves him immediately.

Sie ist eine Ikone und zugleich Geächtete, anbetungswürdig und umstritten – steht zwischen prallem Leben und einsamem Tod.
