We no longer tell the famous story of the little girl with the ruddy hood, her grandmother and the wolf, which entered popular culture. While certain Perrault tales have inspired a good number of composers (Barbe-Bleue for Bartók, Sleeping Beauty for Tchaikovsky or Cendrillon for Isouard or Viardot), Le Petit Chaperon rouge seems to have had only fleeting success on lyrical scenes. There are only two adaptations, which have since fallen into oblivion: one by Gaston Serpette (1885) and the other by Célestin Fontana (1943). It is therefore right that the composer Guy-François Leuenberger and the librettist Stefania Pinnelli have decided to bring this tale back to life in music.
Revisited by the Grimm brothers, by Tex Avery or watered down for the needs of the film industry, this opera offers here an optimistic and fresh version, which will delight both adults and children.

On ne raconte plus la célèbre histoire de la petite fille au capuchon vermeil, de sa mère-grand et du loup, entrée dans la culture populaire. Si certains contes de Perrault ont inspiré bon nombre de compositeurs (Barbe-Bleue pour Bartók, La Belle au bois dormant pour Tchaïkovski ou encore Cendrillon pour Isouard ou Viardot), Le Petit Chaperon rouge semble n'avoir eu un succès qu'éphémère sur les scènes lyriques. Il en existe seulement deux adapta­tions, tombées depuis dans l'oubli : une de Gaston Serpette (1885) et l'autre de Célestin Fontana (1943). C'est donc à juste titre que le compositeur Guy-François Leuenberger et la librettiste Stefania Pinnelli ont décidé de redonner vie en musique à ce conte.
Revisité par les frères Grimm, par Tex Avery ou édulcoré pour les besoins de l'industrie cinématographique, cet opéra en propose ici une version optimiste et pleine de fraîcheur, qui ravira aussi bien les grands que les petits.
