June 20, 21 and 22 at the Musical Theater. K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko will premiere a new production of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Macbeth". Verdi's masterpiece will be performed on the theater stage for the first time. The outstanding drama director Kama Ginkas, who will stage the opera in Russia for the first time, is working on the production. Behind the console is Felix Korobov, chief conductor of the theatre.

On June 20, 21 and 22 at the K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre will have the premiere of a new production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Macbeth". Verdi's masterpiece will be staged at the Music Theatre for the first time. Production team includes famous Russian director Kama Ginkas (who makes his debut as on opera director in Russia), set designer Sergey Barkhin and choreographer Tatiana Baganova. Maestro Felix Korobov conducts.

Macbeth is the first of three operas written by Verdi based on Shakespeare. In the bloody plot, the composer found everything that excited him and gave birth to inspiration: big politics, raging human passions and a meeting with fantastic infernal forces.

Verdi was consumed by the dramatic power of Macbeth and called Shakespeare's play one of humanity's greatest creations. In collaboration with Francesco Maria Piave, he wrote the text of the libretto and created an innovative work that synthesized drama and music. Verdi recorded a complex palette of emotions of each character, subordinating singing to dramatic action – and eventually created one of the greatest musical tragedies.

While directors everywhere continue to transfer the action to the present, Kama Ginkas immerses us in prehistoric times. The space of Sergey Barkhin resembles a Martian landscape, together with the director, the artist takes the action of a well-known opera beyond the usual associations and allusions. Thanks to this, their performance goes out of everyday space into the macrocosm of human existence.
