Šių metų „Midsummer Vilnius’23“ festivalį pradedame galinga nata. Pirmąjį vakarą Valdovų rūmų Didžiajame kieme įvyks ilgai lauktas pasaulinio garso operos solistės, Lietuvos operos primadonos – Violetos Urmanos – pasirodymas. Rafinuotą ir subtilią klasikinės muzikos vakaro programą ji atliks drauge su Modesto Pitrėno diriguojamu Lietuvos kameriniu orkestru (LKO).

Jau beveik tris dešimtmečius dainuojanti garsiausiuose pasaulio teatruose, Violeta Urmana yra pripažinta koncertų ir rečitalių dainininkė, atliekanti G. Mahlerio, R. Strausso, A. Schoenbergo, H. Berliozo, R. Wagnerio ir G. Verdi muziką garsiausiose Europos, Jungtinių Amerikos Valstijų, Izraelio ir Japonijos koncertų salėse, bendradarbiaujanti su talentingiausiais dirigentais ir solistais.

V. Urmana yra pelniusi daugybę apdovanojimų: Londone – Karališkosios filharmonijos apdovanojimą dainininkams, Vienoje – Austrijos „Kammersaengerin” titulą. 2014 m. Italijos prezidentas ją apdovanojo ordinu „Stella d’Italia”. Jos gimtinėje, Lietuvoje, jai suteiktas Lietuvos didžiojo kunigaikščio Gedimino ordinas, o 2020 m. ji apdovanota ordino „Už nuopelnus Lietuvai” Komandoro didžiuoju kryžiumi.

Violeta Urmana – pasauliniu mastu pripažinta kaip viena ryškiausių dabarties dainininkių, ne tik kaip mecosopranas, bet ir kaip dramatinis sopranas. 2021 m. kritikės Irma Foletti ištrauka (Anaclase.com): „Violetos Urmanos vaidinama R. Strauso Klytämnestra pavergė publiką savo galingu įsikūnijimu. Karjerą pradėjusi mecosopranu, vėliau perėjusi į sopraną, o dabar sugrįžusi prie savo pradinio tesitūros diapazono, lietuvių dainininkė išsaugojo savo milžiniškus resursus, vienodai kokybišką instrumentą visame garso aukštyje ir išraiškingumą, kuris kiekvienam žiūrovui sukelia šiurpą, jai pasitelkus savo gilų žemo registro skambesį.”

V. Urmana yra nuolatinė didžiausių pasaulio operos teatrų – Niujorko „Metropolitan Opera”, Madrido „Teatro Real”, Barselonos „Gran Teatre del Liceu”, Paryžiaus nacionalinės operos, Berlyno „Deutsche Oper”, Vienos valstybinės operos, Milano „Teatro alla Scala”, Londono Karališkosios operos teatro „Covent Garden” – ir Bairoito, Zalcburgo, Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgo festivalių bei „BBC Proms” viešnia ir pripažinta UNESCO menininkė taikos labui.

Dėl įtempto koncertų grafiko Violeta Urmana Lietuvos scenoje pasirodo gana retai, todėl šis pasirodymas festivalyje – išskirtinė galimybėsusitikti su visų mylima soliste gyvai.

We are starting this year’s Midsummer Vilnius’23 festival on a powerful note. On the first evening, the long-awaited performance of the world-famous opera soloist, Lithuanian opera prima donna Violeta Urmana will take place in the Great Courtyard of the Palace of the Dukes. She will perform a sophisticated and delicate evening program of classical music together with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Modestas Pitrėnas.

Violeta Urmana has been singing in the world’s most famous theaters for almost three decades and is a recognized concert and recital singer. She performs the music of G. Mahler, R. Strauss, A. Schoenberg, H. Berlioz, R. Wagner, and G. Verdi in the most famous European, United States, Israeli, and Japanese concert halls, collaborating with the most talented conductors and soloists.

Urmana has won many awards: the Royal Philharmonic Award for singers (London) and the Austrian “Kammersaengerin” title (Vienna). The President of Italy awarded her with the “Stella d’Italia” Order (2014). She was awarded the Order of the Grand Duke Gediminas of Lithuania and the Commander’s Grand Cross of the Order “For Merit to Lithuania” (2020), both in her native Lithuania.

Violeta Urmana is recognized worldwide as one of the most prominent singers of today, not only as a mezzo-soprano but also as a dramatic soprano. 2021 excerpt from critic Irma Foletti (Anaclase.com) writes: “R. Strauss’s “Klytämnestra”, played by Violeta Urmana, captivated the audience with her powerful embodiment. Having started her career as a mezzo-soprano, later moving to a soprano, and now returning to her original range, the Lithuanian singer has preserved her enormous resources, an equally high-quality instrument at total volume and expressiveness, which makes every viewer thrilled by her deep low register.”

Urmana is a regular at the world’s largest opera houses – the “Metropolitan Opera” in New York, the “Teatro Real” in Madrid, the “Gran Teatre del Liceu” in Barcelona, ​​the “Deutsche Oper” in Berlin, the “Deutsche Oper” in Vienna, and the “Teatro Alla Scala” in Milan. A guest at the “Royal Opera House” in London, Covent Garden, a guest at the festivals in Bayreuth, Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgh, the “BBC Proms”, and a recognized UNESCO artist for peace.

Due to her busy concert schedule, Violeta Urmana appears on the Lithuanian stage quite rarely, so this performance at the festival is a unique opportunity to meet everyone’s beloved soloist live.
