Muziektheater Transparant. An international music-theatre production company that focuses on the singing voice

On the basis of the human voice, an innovative view of the repertoire and a strong commitment, Muziektheater Transparant creates unconventional productions of high artistic worth which it shares with a range of audiences at home and abroad.

The company advocates giving equal weight to the musical, visual and textual elements, which together make up an exciting whole.

It engages artists from various cultures to create new work or rethink and reinterpret the repertoire. In so doing, it aims for confrontation between genres and styles, classical and non-classical, and/or Western and non-Western.

The company focuses on the quality, experience and insights of established artists with a solid reputation and, in the framework of TRANSLAB, provides training and creation opportunities for the talented and energetic members of a new generation.

The company’s productions are performed in theatres large and small, but also unusual venues at special music-theatre events.

Muziektheater Transparant creates its productions with an enthusiastic and specialised team, mainly in the rehearsal rooms at its base in the Matterhorn building in Borgerhout (Antwerp). In the course of this process it enters into dialogue with a wide variety of international partners, and in the substance of its productions relates closely to both the artist and the audience.

Besides many partners and co-producers, we have a number of structural collaborations with International Opera Academy (IOA), Klarafestival, Muziekgebouw, DE SINGEL, Concertgebouw Brugge, O.Festival for Opera.Music.Theatre and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (OBV).
