Nové nastudování opery Otello Giuseppe Verdiho podle slavné tragédie Williama Shakespeara připravilo Národní divadlo moravskoslezské v Ostravě. Premiéra v režii Ivana Krejčího a v hudebním nastudování dirigenta Jakuba Kleckera se uskutečnila ve čtvrtek 19. října. V hlavních rolích se představili Gianluca Zampieri, Maida Hundeling a Martin Bárta. Provedení řídil Jakub Klecker.

OSTRAVA: ULLMANN DOUBLE BILL AS A SEQUEL OF THE TEREZÍN OPERA CYCLE AT THE NATIONAL MORAVIAN-SILESIAN THEATRE One-act operas THE BROKEN JUG (Der zerbrochene Krug) and THE EMPEROR OF ATLANTIS OR DEATH’S REFUSAL (Der Kaiser von Atlantis oder Die Tod-Verweigerung) by Viktor Ullmann (1898-1944), a native of Těšín, will open as a double bill at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Ostrava, on 16 February 2023. The production is another contribution to the TEREZÍN OPERA CYCLE, which the Ostrava theatre launched last year with Krása’s Betrothal in a Dream and which aims to commemorate the artistic legacy of the composers who fell victim to the Nazi regime.

Zbyňek Müller's musical staging sounded with the full plasticity of orchestral colors with which the work is abundantly filled. The excellent tectonic concept was ideally combined with the instrumental inputs of the solo instruments, the orchestra had a swing and a truly "revolutionary" sound. The scene ( Milan David ) was also beautiful , which with the help of the costumes ( Marta Roszkopfová ) bet on historical authenticity, simplicity and a pleasant choice of colors. Ivan Krejčí's direction with Daniel Jäger's dramaturgy did an excellent job and presented a lively, dynamic and captivating work. The traditionally high-quality choir led by Yuri Galatenko is also worth mentioning, which this time got space and perfectly underlined the important parts of the work.
