[…] Saccá bewältigt zwar den mörderischen chromatischen Aufstieg ins „himmlische Reich“, sein farbloser Auftritt und sein starkes Vibrato prädestinieren ihn aber nicht fürs deutsche Fach. Dem 75-jährigen Salminen fehlt mittlerweile die vokale Kraft für den Kerkermeister Rocco. […] Stürmisch gefeiert wurden vor allem Elisabeth Teige und der grandiose Pizarro des Joachim Goltz, aber auch die wunderbare Amelia Scicolone (Marzelline), Raphael Wittmer (Jaquino), der diesmal ein wenig blasse Thomas Berau (Don Fernando), die beiden Chorsolisten [Daniel Claus Schäfer und Giorgi Bekaia] und natürlich der Chor und das Orchester samt seinem Gastdirigenten [Hendrik Vestmann].
[...] Ausgezeichnet fügten sich die schönen Stimmen von Nataliia Shumska (Ines), Niklas Mayer (Ruiz), David Yim (Bote) sowie Daniel Claus Schäfer (Zigeuner) ins Ensemble. Über zwei Stunden absolvierte die Tänzerin Sarah Wünsch als Trauma (Hirngespinst der Regie!) akrobatische Höchstleistungen. Hinreißend schön präsentierten die Damen sowie die Herren des NTM-Chores (Alistar Liley) in dynamischer Präzision, vokal-agiler Rhythmik die mitreißenden Chor-Frequenzen. Selten darf man nördlich der Alpen derart perfekten, orchestralen Belkanto-Klang erleben [...]
...und, nicht zu vergessen, Rebecca Blanz aus dem Opernstudio, die ihre beiden Kurzauftritte als Barbarina zum Kabinettstück macht.
Ilya Lapich verkörpert einen idealen Grafen, der mit unbändiger Energie sein Ziel verfolgt. Mit unwiderstehlichem Charme und selbstherrlichem Gebaren, weniger herrisch, als sensibel, ist er auch fähig zur Einsicht. Stimmlich begeistert Ilya Lapich mit seinem noblen und kraftvollen Bariton, der in allen Lagen prächtig zur Geltung kommt, eine Glanzrolle für den Sänger.
Unter den Solisten sind besonders (...) und Rebecca Blanz, der eine verletzlich klare Verkörperung des Knaben gelingt, hervorzuheben.
Ein Kabinettstück voller Witz und Skurrilität, in dem Henriette Blumenau und die Sopranistin Rebecca Blanz in Doppelrollen alle Register ihres stimmlichen und schauspielerischen Könnens zogen. Chapeau! Hodel, die zweite Tochter, ist fest entschlossen, Perchik zu ehelichen, der sich als Student und Weltverbesserer auf gefährlichem Terrain bewegt. Die Sopranistin Rebecca Blanz überzeugt mit facettenreichem Sopran und Kompromisslosigkeit – sie wird Perchik später in die Verbannung folgen, von Silvester von Hößlin mit viel Elan und jugendlichem Übermut ausgestattet.

Les amoureux de la poésie de Maeterlinck regretteront inévitablement la disparition du climat vaporeux si communément mis en scène à l'opéra en écho à l'atmosphère profondément ésotérique du chef-d’œuvre de Claude Debussy, mais aucunement le mystère n'est absent de ce travail sans concession. La scénographie représente une chambre photographique aux parois gris-noir qui évoque immédiatement la structure froide et géométrique d'une scène lyrique moderne, structure elle même enchâssée dans le cadre d'un rideau d'avant-scène d'un ancien théâtre, dont les replis se devinent à l'ombre des faisceaux de lumière.
As Wendla, Shachar Lavi is the beating heart of the work and its most unforgettable performer. through outstanding control of her Mezzo timbres and finely weighted and sustained lines, she gives a performance of remarkable subtlety and variation that seems to express the 'interior' of the character.
Das Nationaltheater Mannheim hat Hans Werner Henzes „Bassariden“ ins Programm genommen. Das Werk ist ein halbes Jahrhundert alt und beruht auf einem Stoff von Euripides. Es geht um den Konflikt zwischen (individuell wie kollektiv freigesetztem) Lustprinzip und (staatlicher) Ordnung – man hätte darin eine gewisse Aktualität vermuten können.
Mozart enjoyed great success in Prague. Don Giovanni was commissioned after Le nozze di Figaro had proved such a huge hit at the Nostitz in January 1787 (a bigger hit than in Vienna) and his final opera La clemenza di Tito premiered at the theatre in 1791, months before the composer’s untimely death. The Estates is tiny, seating just 635 (closer to 800 in Mozart’s day) and from the brief glimpses at the start of the stream one realises what an intimate experience it must be watching opera there. If the theatre looks familiar, that could be because Miloš Forman shot scenes there for his Oscar-winning film Amadeus.
The evening began with an interesting and funny doubling of what was happening on stage in the video. And especially in the middle part of the piece, an eerie portrait of the stone monster with its hidden corners and corridors is drawn on the revolving stage. It is a house where the sun enters only to die. The lightbulb flickers, in a wooden chamber an illuminated fan creates a spooky atmosphere. In part, Anna Viebrock collages older productions here, accompanied by Debussy's deceptive soundscapes. But when video sequences are recorded after the actual piece, recorded inside the National Theater, accompanied by dialogues from Elio Petri's science fiction film "La decima vittima", it all becomes too much, too vague, too slapstick. In the end, the extension of the piece has almost no effect at all, at least the viewer doesn't really get closer to Lady Madeline. It would have been better if the line had been drawn earlier. This leaves 90 long minutes with only restrained applause.
Jörg Halubek leads his orchestra Il Gusto barocco from the ditch , which is very original with zinc, recorder, lute, viole da gamba, lirone, harpsichord and organ and creates a great, exciting Monteverdi sound. The choir also appears in costumes on the stage and on the front side balconies and is perfectly integrated into the action, also vocally. Soprano 1 and Ninfa / Nymphe is Amelia Scicolone , new to the ensemble, with a beautiful, delicate voice, very predestined for the madrigals. As a nymph, she lies in a bathtub with feet, or in a dream flower dress, as if born from foam. Soprano 2 and Clorinda are Seunghee Kho with a striking contrast soprano. The mezzo-soprano is Marie-Belle Sandis and also gives a furious Arianna, who keeps ironing her wedding dress on the ramp because Teseo has left her, but in vain. She still has to wait until the redemption by the demigod Bacchus and thus on Strauss / Hofmannsthal. Matthias Lucht sings the alto with a pleasantly timed counter. Tenor 1 and Tancredi is the reliable Raphael Wittmer , tenor 2 Thomas Volle , partly in a funny disguise / bathrobe and with a refrigerator. As usual, baritone and testo are sonorous and full-bodied by Thomas Berau . Andrei Nicoara contributes the bass, as an individual, but giving it all the more solid foundation .
