Born in Australia in 1977, Nicholas McRoberts began his musical studies at the age of five. He studied piano, composition and conducting (with Robert Rosen, Jorma Panula and Dejan Savić) and completed his undergraduate studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium. He then went on to study at the Victorian College of the Arts before moving to France in 1999. He studied further at the Paris Conservatorium (CNSM) with Janos Fürst and at the Ecole Normale (Conservatoire Cortot). Today he lives in France. Also a composer, his first opera Lyon, was premiered at the State Opera in Ruse, Bulgaria in July 2016. He has also written and conducted works for the concert hall, the opera and the theatre.
