Die Frage nach dem menschlichen Sein ist wohl so alt wie die Menschheit selbst. Was ist der Grund unseres Seins? Warum gibt es überhaupt irgendetwas und vielmehr nichts? Eine Frage, die sich Philosophen seit jeher stellen.

 

Und die Antwort? Uneindeutig. Vielgesichtig. So wie das Wesen der Musik. Musik wirkt. Sie kann aufwühlen, mitreißen, rühren, bewegen. Klänge können zu denken geben oder zum Träumen verleiten. Und manchmal kann die Musik beides – wie die Komponisten des 2. Kirchenkonzerts beweisen. Jeder auf seine Weise. Jeder mit seiner eigenen (kompositorischen) Philosophie.

 

Arthur Honegger verschrieb sich in seiner Musik einer Philosophie der Spontaneität und Unbefangenheit, zu vielfältig waren seine Interessen, von Gregorianik übers protestantische Kirchenlied bis hin zum Jazz und zur Zwölftonmusik, um sich nur auf eine Richtung festlegen zu können.

 

Ja, und Mozart? Seine Musik steht wohl wie kaum eine andere für die Ultimativen des Lebens: Verwundbarkeit – Vergänglichkeit – Unvollkommenheit.

The question of human existence is probably as old as humanity itself. What is the reason for our existence? Why is there anything at all and rather nothing? A question that philosophers have always asked themselves.

 

And the answer? ambiguous. multifaceted. Just like the essence of music. music works. It can stir, sweep, stir, move. Sounds can make you think or dream. And sometimes the music can do both – as the composers of the 2nd church concert prove. Each in his own way. Each with its own (compositional) philosophy.

 

Arthur Honegger dedicated his music to a philosophy of spontaneity and impartiality, his interests were too diverse, from Gregorian chant to Protestant hymns to jazz and twelve-tone music, to be able to commit to just one direction.

 

Yes, and Mozart? Like no other, his music stands for the ultimate in life: vulnerability – transience – imperfection.
