코리안심포니오케스트라는 1985년 창단 이래 지난 30여년간 국내외에서 매년 90회 이상 연주활동을 하며 대한민국 교향악의 위상을 높여 왔다.
코리안심포니오케스트라는 1987년부터 국립극장과 전속계약을 맺은 이후 국립오페라단, 국립발레단, 국립합창단의 정규 레퍼토리에 협업작업을 하고 있다. 또한 2001년부터 예술의전당 상주오케스트라로 지정되어 예술의전당에 자리 잡게 되면서 대한민국의 대표적인 극장오케스트라 역할을 현재까지 수행해오고 있다. 이로써 빈필하모닉오케스트라와 같이 국내에서 유일하게 오페라하우스 공연을 위한 전문적인 하우스 오케스트라로서 발레, 오페라 음악에 남다른 전문공연경력과 노하우를 가지고 있다. 발레, 오페라 연주는 연간 40회 이상이며 매년 새로운 레퍼토리를 확장·확보해 가며 발레, 오페라 음악에서는 국내에서 독보적인 지위를 가지고 있다. 관현악 분야에서는 독보적인 연주단체로 정기연주회와 특별기획연주회에서 예술의전당 오페라하우스와 콘서트홀을 주 무대로 연주하고 있다.
코리안심포니오케스트라는 2001년 문화체육관광부의 재단법인 승인, 전문예술법인 지정을 받았으며 또한 문화체육관광부의 산하기관으로 정부예산을 지원받아 운영되면서 민·관 문화예술의 거버넌스 모델이 되고 있다. 현재 약 100명의 임직원과 연주단원들이 1명의 상주작곡가와 함께 한국 공연문화예술 발전을 위해 노력하고 있다.

Since its founding in 1985, the Korean Symphony Orchestra has raised the status of Korean symphony music by performing more than 90 times a year at home and abroad for the past 30 years.
Since signing an exclusive contract with the National Theater in 1987, the Korean Symphony Orchestra has been collaborating on the regular repertoire of the National Opera, National Ballet, and National Choir. In addition, since 2001, it was designated as the Seoul Arts Center's resident orchestra and has been located at the Seoul Arts Center, and has been performing the role of Korea's representative theater orchestra to this day. As a result, like the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, it is the only professional house orchestra in Korea for opera house performances and has extraordinary professional performance experience and know-how in ballet and opera music. Ballet and opera performances occur more than 40 times a year, and new repertoire is expanded and secured every year, and it has an unrivaled position in the country in ballet and opera music. In the field of orchestral music, it is an unrivaled performance group that performs on regular and special concerts at the Seoul Arts Center Opera House and Concert Hall.
The Korean Symphony Orchestra was approved as a foundation and designated as a professional arts corporation by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2001, and is operated with government budget support as an affiliated organization of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, becoming a governance model for public and private culture and arts. Currently, about 100 executives, employees and performance troupe members, along with one resident composer, are working to develop Korean performing arts and culture.
