The composer and Hans Werner Henze Prize winner Stefan Heucke sees himself in the tradition of great German role models such as Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. So it is only logical to compose a piano concerto like this. The commissioned work of the Münster Symphony Orchestra promises a particularly exciting performance as a world premiere with the soloist Ana-Marija Markovina, with whom he has worked for many years.

Of the four symphonies by Johannes Brahms, his second is considered his most popular because of its cheerful mood. In fact, after breaking through his 20-year stalemate to the release of his Symphony No. 1, ideas just seem to be bubbling out of him. "Brahms' new symphony shines with healthy freshness and clarity," summed up the critics, giving a verdict that is still valid today: "It belongs to everyone who longs for good music".
