The opening night of the Winter Festival is announced by three moving baroque masterpieces performed by the Orchestra and Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, under the baton of Flemish conductor Bart van Reyn, who specializes in opera and symphonic and opera music and is one of the most sought-after Belgian conductors of his generation.
Bach's cantata for choir and Ferrandini's solo cantata for mezzo-soprano will be on the program, and the highlight of the concert is Händel's most stormy work for choir and soloists. Handel, full of vocal virtuosity, structural dimension and energy, undoubtedly designed the work to prove his ability to compose in the Italian style. English soprano will provide an experienced interpretation Julie Doyle, Belgian soprano Griet De Geyter and Barbara Kozelj, a successful and charismatic Slovenian mezzo-soprano who will impress the audience with her world-class performances.
