Join the Aldeburgh Young Musicians and multi-instrumentalist Hannabiell Sanders for an energetic performance of carnival music. As a conclusion to a week-long residential course at Snape Maltings and in the lead-up to Aldeburgh Carnival 2023, Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYM) will be holding an Open Session to share what they have explored with the incredible Hannabiell Sanders and her band. AYM is an artist development programme for musicians aged 10-18, based at Snape Maltings Concert Hall. Part of the national network of Centres for Advanced Training, AYM facilitates the musical development of over 30 young people, unlocking their potential through a range of inspirational and immersive residential courses and additional activities. Members of AYM have access to some of the best musical training on offer, collaborating with expert professional musicians and like-minded peers to explore a diverse range of musical styles and approaches. Through interactive musical activities with an emphasis on autonomy, AYMs are encouraged to be their creative selves. Each AYM experience is unique. We work with a broad range of exceptionally knowledgeable professionals who bring their individual approach, expertise, and experiences to the programme. About Hannabiell Dr G Hannabiell Sanders is an African American Jamaican, originally from New Jersey, USA. With a musical career starting at the age of 9 she has become an award-winning performer, bass trombonist, African & Latin hand percussionist, composer, and activist. She is a charismatic musician and progressive music teacher who is committed to using music to break stereotypes and bring diverse communities together.
