Alpha & Omega is a drama about loyal love, temptation, jealousy and death. Alpha and Omega are the main characters of the opera, a combination of the first and last letters of the classical (Ionic) Greek alphabet, the beginning and end of all that exists ... for a man of time to stop for a moment and think about the meaning of life. How does pure love turn into hell? Are we humans or animals? The premiere took place with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow. Gil Shohat is a composer, pianist and conductor who has been named the most influential musician in Israel by Forbes magazine and one of the key figures in contemporary culture. Gil Shohat was born in Israel in 1973 and after graduating from the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv continued his studies at the National Academy of Music of Santa Cecilia in Italy and at the University of Cambridge in England. His teachers were composers Andre Hajdu, Ivan Vandor, Ezio Corgi, Luciano Berio and Alexander Gaar. Gil performs in Israel and other countries of the world as a pianist, conductor, teacher, composer, propagandist of classical music; performs works of various genres and trends. Most of his works were published by the prestigious Italian music publishing house Giovanni Ricordi, where he began his career. Gil - became the youngest author in the history of the publishing house. The works of Gil Shohat are popular and performed by renowned orchestras, soloists and conductors in Israel and around the world at many festivals, including the London Festival, the Venice Biennale, the Hong Kong Festival, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Forbidden city ​​in Beijing. Gil became the youngest music director of the Israel Chamber Orchestra, as well as a resident composer of the Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra. Gil Shohat - artistic director and chief conductor of the Elysium ensemble, founded in 2004, artistic consultant of the Classics on the Red Sea festival, head of the Maestro classical music festival in Ein Hod, artistic director of the Sounds of Childhood festival in Holone, Artistic Director of the Beethoven Festival in Nazareth, Permanent Guest Conductor of the Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy and the Mozart Festival in Vermont, USA. Shohat's performances have been recorded by leading recording studios such as EMI and Virgin Classics and have been broadcast on European radio stations such as Radio France, Radio Italy, the BBC and Radio West Germany. The composer has won many awards, including for the opera "Alpha & Omega" (2001). Back in 1997, he received first prize at the Arthur Rubinstein competition for the best composition. Commander of the Order of the Legion of Honor of France.
