Koncert European Union Baroque Orchestra z udziałem Chóru Dziewczęcego NFM pod dyrekcją Enrica Onofriego zostanie w całości poświęcony twórczości Antonia Vivaldiego. Zabrzmi pięć kompozycji autorstwa „rudego księdza”, który trzydzieści pięć lat spędził jako nauczyciel w żeńskim sierocińcu Ospedale della Pietà. Dzieła te łączą się z tematyką festiwalu niejako à rebours – śpiewane były bowiem niegdyś przez osierocone dzieci.

Vivaldi przeszedł do historii jako niezwykle płodny twórca koncertów instrumentalnych. W programie występu European Union Baroque Orchestra znalazły się dwa dzieła tego typu, oba bardzo krótkie, przeznaczone na smyczki i utrzymane w tonacji d-moll. Koncert Madrigalesco RV 129 jest refleksyjny i poważny w tonie, czym odróżnia się od dynamicznego i lekkiego Koncertu RV 127. Jednak najbardziej interesującymi punktami programu będą sakralne kompozycje wokalno-instrumentalne. Magnificat g-moll RV 611 to dzieło istniejące w kilku wersjach. Ostatnia z nich powstała właśnie na potrzeby Ospedale della Pietà i była wykonywana przez jego wychowanki. Vivaldi zastąpił w tej wersji niektóre odcinki chóralne solowymi, dzięki czemu młode śpiewaczki mogły wykazać swoje zdolności. Jest to radosna, choć niepozbawiona odcieni refleksyjnych, pieśń dziękczynna z tekstem zaczerpniętym z Ewangelii św. Łukasza. Wypowiada go Matka Boska podczas spotkania ze świętą Elżbietą krótko po Zwiastowaniu. Natomiast tekst krótkiego Beatus vir RV 598 pochodzi z Księgi Psalmów, a konkretnie z Psalmu 112. Jest to jeden z psalmów mądrościowych, opisujących życie, które podoba się Bogu, i błogosławieństwa doświadczane w rezultacie przestrzegania boskich praw.

Ostatnim utworem koncertu będzie Gloria D-dur RV 589, a więc najpopularniejsza kompozycja sakralna Vivaldiego. Przebojowy charakter muzyki znakomicie odpowiada tekstowi, który jest doskonale znanym fragmentem ordinarium missae. Vivaldi napisał Magnificat i Glorię z myślą o chórze czterogłosowym, ale wykonanie w ramach festiwalu Wratislavia Cantans odbędzie się bez tenorów i basów. Partia tego ostatniego głosu zostanie zaśpiewana przez dzieci o oktawę wyżej z towarzyszeniem instrumentów grających dźwięki zapisane w oryginale. Celem wykonawców jest przybliżenie się do brzmienia, jakie mógł uzyskiwać Vivaldi podczas swoich koncertów w Ospedale della Pietà.

The concert of the European Union Baroque Orchestra with the participation of the NFM Girls' Choir conducted by Enrico Onofri will be entirely devoted to the works of Antonio Vivaldi. We will hear five compositions by the "red-headed priest", who spent thirty-five years as a teacher at the Ospedale della Pietà girls' orphanage. These works are connected with the theme of the festival as if à rebours - they were once sung by orphaned children.

Vivaldi went down in history as an extremely prolific creator of instrumental concerts. The program of the European Union Baroque Orchestra's performance included two works of this type, both very short, intended for strings and in the key of D minor. The Madrigalesco RV 129 Concert is reflective and serious in tone, which distinguishes it from the dynamic and light RV 127 Concert . However, the most interesting points of the program will be sacred vocal and instrumental compositions. Magnificat in G minor RV 611 is a work that exists in several versions. The last one was created for the Ospedale della Pietà and was performed by its pupils. In this version, Vivaldi replaced some choral sections with solo ones, thanks to which the young singers could demonstrate their talents. It is a joyful, although not without reflective shades, a song of thanksgiving with text taken from the Gospel of St. Luke. It is spoken by Our Lady during her meeting with Saint Elizabeth shortly after the Annunciation. However, the text of the short Beatus vir RV 598 comes from the Book of Psalms, specifically from Psalm 112 . This is one of the wisdom psalms that describes a life that pleases God and the blessings experienced as a result of obeying God's laws.

The last piece of the concert will be Gloria in D major, RV 589, Vivaldi's most popular sacred composition. The hit character of the music perfectly matches the text, which is a well-known fragment of the ordinarium missae. Vivaldi wrote the Magnificat and Gloria with a four-part choir in mind, but the performance at the Wratislavia Cantans festival will take place without tenors and basses. The part of the last voice will be sung by children an octave higher, accompanied by instruments playing the sounds written in the original. The performers' goal is to come closer to the sound that Vivaldi could have achieved during his concerts at the Ospedale della Pietà.
