Of the 94 operas that Antonio Vivaldi claims to have written, only half have been identified to date. A few years ago, a wonderful treasure was recovered from the archives with parts from the stage work »Argippo«. Arias by other contemporary composers complete the find to a great work in the tradition of the »Pasticcio« opera. Fabio Biondi, who, with his ensemble Europa Galante, has given numerous Vivaldi performances that impress with their freshness and style, is now also presenting »Argippo« in Bad Kissingen. In line with the focus of the festival, the opera was performed in Prague in 1730, where the Czech National Library keeps the libretto to this day.
