Darkness, appeasement and redemption are the themes of numerous motets and cantatas in the work of Johann Sebastian Bach, whose position as Cantor led him to produce dozens of works dedicated to Lutheran worship every year. Alongside Insula orchestra and accentus, Laurence Equilbey reinvents this liturgical material to give life to the flamboyance of Bach’s choirs and the refinement of his polyphonic writing.

Ténèbres, apaisement et rédemption forment les thèmes de nombreux motets et cantates qui jalonnent l’œuvre de Johann Sebastian Bach, dont le poste de Cantor l’incitait à produire chaque année des dizaines d’œuvres dédiées au culte luthérien.

Laurence Equilbey s’empare de cette matière liturgique pour restituer la flamboyance des chœurs et le raffinement de l’écriture polyphonique de Bach. Le court Heilig de Carl Philip Emanuel Bach, qui clôt la soirée, est un sommet musical et religieux, de quoi rentrer de La Seine Musicale… sur un nuage !
