The opera was written in 1895, in this stage version staged in Perm in 2006 (in Russian)

The rare work of Jules Massenet was staged for the first time in Russia on the stage of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre. Sophisticated music lovers have a rare opportunity to listen to the elegant and little-known score of the author of "Werther", and the eternal story about the transformation of a hardworking and poor orphan into a beautiful princess will impress fans of romantic stories. There are many surprises and unusual characters in the performance: the Fairy rides onto the stage on a pony dressed up as a magical Unicorn, and cute “trained” live chickens accompany the little elves throughout the first act.
