It was the most noted Zurich opera event of the 2018/19 season: Kirill Serebrennikov, Russian director whose house arrest in Moscow prevented his presence in Zurich, staged Mozart's Così fan tutte with the help of his closest collaborators at the Zurich Opera House. What had already caused a wide media response before the premiere due to the highly unusual situation was recognized as an outstanding artistic event after the premiere: the result was an extremely dense, radically contemporary performance that delighted audiences and critics alike. In the revival of this production, which was created under very special conditions, there is a reunion with many singers who already made a significant contribution to the success of the performance in the premiere series: Ruzan Mantashyan as Fiordiligi, Anna Goryachova as Dorabella, Rebeca Olvera as Despina and Michael Nagy as Don Alfonso. Alexey Neklyudov and Konstantin Shushakov will appear as Ferrando and Guglielmo for the first time, with Ottavio Dantone taking over as musical director.Cosi fan tutte. At first everything seems simple and unshakable here: Ferrando and Guglielmo love their fiancés Dorabella and Fiordiligi. The men are willing to bet that the women will be loyal to them. Also with Don Alfonso, who is sure that he can show them the opposite with an experiment. But what was planned as a harmless game develops into a cruel open-heart experiment that finally pulls the rug out from under everyone involved: because the characters have to recognize that what they think they are feeling and what they are actually feeling , are in painful contradiction to each other. Mozart looks deeply into the hearts of his characters, who are tossed about by their emotions; Like no other, he knows how to use his music to tell of the bewildering complexity of their emotional states. At the same time, Mozart is not a moralist - he does not condemn his characters, and so it becomes a music theater that presents the unfathomable in a wonderfully light and thoroughly comedic way. Es war das am meisten beachtete Zürcher Opernereignis der Spielzeit 2018/19: Kirill Serebrennikov, russischer Regisseur, dessen Moskauer Hausarrest seine Anwesenheit in Zürich verhinderte, inszenierte mit Hilfe seiner engsten Mitarbeiter am Opernhaus Zürich Mozarts Così fan tutte. Was bereits vor der Premiere wegen der höchst ungewöhnlichen Situation für ein breites Medienecho gesorgt hatte, wurde nach der Premiere als herausragendes künstlerisches Ereignis gewürdigt: Entstanden war eine überaus dichte, radikal zeitgenössische Aufführung, die Publikum und Kritik gleichermassen begeisterte. In der Wiederaufnahme dieser unter sehr besonderen Bedingungen entstandenen Produktion gibt es eine Wiederbegegnung mit vielen Sängerinnen und Sängern, die schon in der Premieren- Serie massgeblich zum Gelingen der Aufführung beigetragen haben: Ruzan Mantashyan als Fiordiligi, Anna Goryachova als Dorabella, Rebeca Olvera als Despina und Michael Nagy als Don Alfonso. Als Ferrando und Guglielmo werden erstmals Alexey Neklyudov bzw. Konstantin Shushakov zu sehen sein, Ottavio Dantone übernimmt neu die musikalische Leitung. – Um die Abgründe der Liebe geht es in fast allen Oper Mozarts – doch in keiner so ausschliesslich wie in Così fan tutte. Hier scheint zunächst alles einfach und unerschütterlich: Ferrando und Guglielmo lieben ihre Verlobten Dorabella und Fiordiligi. Dass die Frauen ihnen treu sind, darauf gehen die Männer jede Wette ein. Auch mit Don Alfonso, der sicher ist, ihnen mit einem Experiment das Gegenteil vorführen zu können. Doch was als harmloses Spiel geplant war, entwickelt sich zum grausamen Experiment am offenen Herzen, das allen Beteiligten schliesslich den Boden unter den Füssen wegzieht: Denn die Figuren müssen erkennen, dass das, was sie glauben zu fühlen, und das, was sie tatsächlich empfinden, in schmerzhaftem Widerspruch zueinander steht. Mozart schaut seinen von ihren Gefühlen hin- und hergeworfenen Figuren tief ins Herz; wie kein anderer weiss er mit seiner Musik von der verwirrenden Vielschichtigkeit ihrer Seelenlagen zu erzählen. Zugleich ist Mozart kein Moralist – er verurteilt seine Figuren nicht, und so wird daraus ein Musiktheater, das Abgründiges auf wunderbar leichte und durchaus komödiantische Art und Weise vorführt. Abgründe schlummern hier allerdings keineswegs nur in den Frauen – così fan tutti.
