The LNOBT begins the new season of 2021–2022 with perhaps the most ambitious project in its history, the Richard Strauss's opera The Knight of the Rose premiere of . Knight of the Rose - created in 1911, a wonderful masterpiece, one of the greatest achievements of the German, and at the same time pan-European, opera, is being staged in Lithuania for the first time. Directed by Damian Michieletto and his entire creative team, the world's most famous theaters, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Sydney, Rome, London, Berlin and Zurich, have some of the most popular opera directors.

The Knight by R. Strauss and author of the libretto, H. von Hofmannsthal Rose of , is a charming comedy of love, gallantry, misunderstanding, secret desires, and social dignity, but first and foremost, this work idealizes a great civilization. One, the capital of a powerful empire. The action takes place during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa. The intrigue is like the usual one, reminiscent of Figaro’s marriage story: after swearing at the wealthy, he tries to spend his daughter behind a noble elderly baron in financial difficulty, but true love destroys their plans. However, the central figure in this opera is Maršalienės character, which, as The Marriage of Figaro Grafienėje embodies everything that this comic opera funny ... Rose Swain - it waltzes element, filled with one Spirit, the musical center of culture inherent aristocracy, elegance, grace and subtle humor .

According to opera director Damian Michielett, “the main theme of the work is the feeling of passing time, the fear of getting old, not being able to feel, the fear of not being loved, attractive. Maršalienė's words are heard in the opera: "We are still looking for last year's snow, as if we are looking for what is no longer there, which has already melted." it is the color of purity, of snow. It is a metaphor for the passing of time. We do not want to die, we want to live forever, we are always looking for what we have already lost - experiences that have been taken away from us over time. It's about the fate of each of us, isn't it? ”
