Many well-known catchy tunes will be heard again between June 20 and July 19, 2020 as part of the 24th Schönebeck Operetta Summer on the Bierer Berg open-air stage. “The Merry Widow”, the most successful and best-known operetta by Franz Lehár, will be performed with a lot of humor, a touch of sensuality and wonderful music.

Years later, “The Merry Widow” Hanna Glawari and Count Danilo Danilowitsch meet again at the exuberant celebration of the Pontevedrin national holiday. Once upon a time, Hanna, the beautiful and destitute daughter of an estate manager, and Lieutenant Count Danilo were happily in love. Due to family pressure, however, he was not allowed to marry a girl of low class. Hanna then married the wealthy banker Glawari, who dies shortly after the wedding and leaves his wife a fortune. There is still so much crackling between Hanna and Danilo that the sparks fly. However, the wealthy survivor is coveted by all men and Baron Zeta has to prevent marriage with a Parisian. Can the bankruptcy of the small state of Pontevedro be averted? the mystery of a puzzling fan can be solved and Hanna and Danilo find each other again? You will find the answer to all of these questions between June 20 and July 19, 2020, every Wednesday to Sunday from 4:00 p.m.
