Opera Siam’s MOZART AND MORE is back for the 11th time!  This festival has been held regularly since 2004 and presents interesting, often unusual and rare works as well as popular favorites

Shostakovich - Symphony No. 9
The bitingly satirical composition composed by Dmitri Shostakovich to celebrate the Russian victory in 1945 - was subsequently banned by Stalin for being too trivial.  Now we understand it as a work of bitterness as well as laughter, a subtle subversion of the regime.

Messiaen - Oiseaux Exotiques
A brightly colorful virtuoso work, a kaleidoscope of sound inspired by birdsong and virtuoso piano solos

Mozart - music from La Clemenza di Tito
Mozart’s last opera, written the year of his death on a last-minute commission for an Imperial event,  fell out of favour for two centuries.  But it made a comeback in recent years and seems to presage a coming stylistic tautness and inventiveness that might have gone in new directions had Mozart lived.
