Richard Wagner created a monumental world drama with his Ring des Nibelungen, which was first performed in a cycle in Bayreuth in 1876. In a bitter struggle, men and gods chase after the one ring that promises eternal dominion. The tetralogy spans the arc from the bottom of the Rhine to the apocalyptic end of the world, as imagined in »Götterdämmerung«. Staged by Yona Kim with large-scale projections, the »Ring« – in its entirety – becomes the farewell production for General Music Director Alexander Soddy.
