When most people think of the word ‘concert’ in classical music, they think of a soloist accompanied by an orchestra. But what if the entire orchestra performed as a soloist? This idea was dealt with by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the times of classicism, who places four wind players in the foreground. The idea was fully developed in the 20th century by Béla Bartók, who premiered his Concerto for Orchestra in Boston in 1944. Soloists are successively individual sections of the orchestra. For two decades, Kaspar Zehnder led the Murten Classic Summer Festival, but we can also know him as the former chief conductor of The PKF — Prague Philharmonia and he is also a regular guest of our concert seasons. The first four players of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra will perform as soloists at the concert.

Pri slove koncert v klasickej hudbe si asi väčšina ľudí predstaví sólistu, ktorého sprevádza orchester.  Čo ak by sa ale sólisticky predstavil celý orchester? S touto myšlienkou sa v časoch klasicizmu zaoberal Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, ktorý do popredia stavia štyroch hráčov na dychové nástroje. Myšlienku naplno rozvinul v 20. storočí Béla Bartók, ktorý v roku 1944 v Bostone odpremieroval svoj Koncert pre orchester. Sólistami sú postupne jednotlivé sekcie orchestra.
Dve desaťročia viedol Kaspar Zehnder Murten Classic Summer Festival, no môžeme ho poznať aj ako bývalého šéfdirigenta PKF Prague filharmonia a je pravidelným hosťom našich koncertných sezón. Na koncerte sa sólovo predstaví i štvorica prvých hráčov orchestra Slovenská filharmónia.
