'Il Trovatore', which means minstrel, is considered the most powerful and passionate of Verdi's operas. Along with <Rigoletto> and <La Traviata>, this opera is famous as one of Verdi's big three works. It is a work that adds Verdi's unique colorful and clear melody to a cruel revenge drama in which siblings point swords at each other as a joke of twisted fate. Director Giancarlo del Monaco, who is well-versed in detailed character expression, heralds a new transformation with fast-paced storytelling. The Italian rookie who won the 2017 Solti International Conducting Competition and is applauded by audiences at large theaters in major cities such as Tokyo, Florence, and Paris. Maestro Leonardo Cini will present an explosive and fresh orchestration.

음유시인이라는 뜻의 ‘일 트로바토레’는 베르디의 오페라 중 가장 박력있고 열정적인 작품으로 꼽힌다. <리골레토> <라 트라비아타>와 함께 베르디 작품 빅3로 유명한 이 오페라는 엇갈린 운명의 장난으로 친형제가 서로 칼을 겨누는 잔혹한 복수극에 베르디 특유의 색채 짙고 명징한 선율을 덧입힌 작품이다.  세밀한 캐릭터 표현에 정통한 연출가 잔카를로 델 모나코가 속도감 있는 이야기 전개로 새로운 변신을 예고하며, 2017년 솔티 국제 지휘콩쿠르 최우수상을 수상하고 도쿄, 피렌체, 파리 등 주요도시 대극장에서 관객들의 갈채를 받고 있는 이탈리아 신예 마에스트로 레오나르도 시니가 폭발력있고 신선한 오케스트레이션을 선사할 예정이다.
