Το Γερμανικό Ρέκβιεμ γράφτηκε από τον Μπραμς μεταξύ 1857 και 1868, με αφορμή τον θάνατο δύο πολύ αγαπητών του προσώπων: της μητέρας του και του μέντορά του Ρόμπερτ Σούμαν. Παρά τον τίτλο Ρέκβιεμ δεν έχει σχέση με τη Νεκρώσιμη Ακολουθία της Ρωμαιοκαθολικής Εκκλησίας, αλλά πρόκειται για ένα προσωπικό σχόλιο του ιδιοφυούς συνθέτη πάνω στην τραγικότητα του θανάτου και την ελπίδα της αιώνιας ζωής. Τα κείμενα του έργου είναι αποσπάσματα από την Αγία Γραφή. Η Κρατική Ορχήστρα Θεσσαλονίκης υποδέχεται τη Χορωδία του Καθεδρικού Ναού της Βρέμης, που ενώνεται επί σκηνής με τη Μικτή Χορωδία Θεσσαλονίκης και τους Άννα Στυλιανάκη και Τάση Χριστογιαννόπουλο, υπό την έμπειρη μπαγκέτα του Γιάννη Πουσπουρίκα.

The German Requiem was written by Brahms between 1857 and 1868, on the occasion of the death of two of his dearest loved ones: his mother and his mentor Robert Schumann. Despite the title Requiem, it has nothing to do with the Roman Catholic Church's funeral service, but is a personal commentary by the genius composer on the tragedy of death and the hope of eternal life. The texts of the work are excerpts from the Bible. The Thessaloniki State Orchestra welcomes the Bremen Cathedral Choir, joined on stage by the Mixed Choir of Thessaloniki and Anna Stylianaki and Tassi Christogiannopoulos, under the experienced baton of Yannis Pouspourikas.
