After the overwhelming success of Manon Lescaut , Giacomo Puccini presented his fourth opera, La Bohème , in 1896, which quickly became one of the most popular and most frequently performed works in the operatic repertoire. She has retained this position to this day. Intendant Florian Scholz presents himself as an opera director for the first time with this production of La Bohème in Klagenfurt, with Lorenzo Viotti and Gábor Hontvári conducting the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra. It tells the story of a group of artist friends who lead a life of hardship in a Parisian garret. But they don't let their optimism take away: they cheerfully invest every sou they earn in good food and wine. The seriousness of life begins for the poet Rodolfo when he falls in love with his neighbor Mimì, who is terminally ill. She is accepted into his circle of friends, but neither the artists' lust for life nor the couple's love are able to stop the disease from progressing.
