The world premiere of the opera The Force of Destiny took place almost 160 years ago, on October 29, 1862 at the Bolshoi (Stone) Theater in St. Petersburg. This is the only work by Verdi written specifically for the Russian theater. The audience found the plot gloomy and the music complex, so a second edition was made for the premiere at La Scala (1869), which was later successfully staged on world stages. Hatred and love, class inequality, rock are the most important motifs in Verdi's operas. In The Force of Destiny, racial bias is added to them. Leonora di Vargas, daughter of the Spanish Marquis di Calatrava, is in love with an "unworthy" young man, a descendant of the ancient Inca family - Don Alvaro. Of course, the Marquis is against such an alliance. Finding Alvaro in his daughter's room, Calatrava showers him with accusations of outraged honor of Leonora. As a result of a fatal accident, the marquis is mortally wounded. Dying, he curses his daughter. Leonora and Alvaro are separated: she goes to the monastery, he goes to the army. But the son of Calatrava, Don Carlos, after the death of his father, vows to take revenge on his sister and her murderous lover. And fate itself takes matters into its own hands... The founder of the Novaya Opera, Yevgeny Kolobov, had a special attraction to Verdi's opera. In 1979 he became musical director of a production at the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. In the same year, the performance was in Moscow - and, according to eyewitnesses, it produced the effect of an exploding bomb. Everyone started talking about Kolobov, he was invited to work at the Mariinsky Theater, where a few years later Evgeny Vladimirovich again staged The Force of Destiny. For the third time, Kolobov returned to this work in 1993. Then a concert performance of the opera took place in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. And in the year of the 75th anniversary of the birth of Yevgeny Vladimirovich Kolobov, the Novaya Opera Theater created by him presents a concert performance of the famous Verdi opera. Behind the conductor's stand is a colleague, friend, fellow student of Evgeny Kolobov in the class of Mark Paverman at the Ural Conservatory, People's Artist of the Republic of Moldova Alexander Samoila .
