Saint-Étienne creates the event with the production of a world premiere, this version of La Voix Humaine augmented by a creation by Thierry Escaich and Olivier Py. Co-produced mainly with the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, this show was filmed last March on the Parisian stage due to sanitary conditions. The public of our city will therefore have the honor of discovering Patrizia Ciofi in La Voix humaine , a lyrical tragedy by Poulenc (1959), setting to music a monologue in one act by Cocteau, during which a woman lives live, on the telephone, the drama of the end of his love affair. An intuition since verified on the importance of technology in our contemporary human relationships. To this now classic work, is added Point d'orgue, by Thierry Escaich. The composer and organist responded to the challenge of adding a section to Poulenc's work. For this "fantasized extension", he naturally turned to his accomplice Olivier Py, in charge of the libretto and the staging, to give flesh to the male character that we do not see in Poulenc's work, and add a third character, working to rehabilitate the abandoned woman. Two additions that put the corporeal and the carnal back at the heart of the exchange, once the utopia of all-distance has been consummated.
