This is an opera about an opera. A theater stage appears on the stage, where the troupe is preparing for the premiere of a famous opera. Characters-artists - prima donna Corilla, touchy and capricious tenor Guglielmo, mezzo-soprano Dorothea, as well as debutante Luigia, who remained in the shadow of the prima donna's fame - at first act in concert, but gradually their professional ambitions and personal interests begin to prevail over the goal of staging a performance and result in a series of theatrical intrigues, love stories and comic situations. The situation is aggravated to the limit by mother Agatha, who bursts onto the stage with demands to give her daughter Luigia the main role in the play.
The actors quarrel, the production falls apart before our eyes. But in the end, mother Agatha saves the day. Premiere - to be.

Opera "Viva la mamma!" in any country it is traditionally performed in two languages. All parts - solo numbers and dialogues of heroes - are translated into a language understandable to the public, fragments of the opera seria, which the heroes of the performance rehearse - in Italian.

Это «опера об опере». На сцене появляется… сцена театра, на которой труппа готовится к премьере известной оперы. Персонажи-артисты – примадонна Корилла, обидчивый и капризный тенор Гульельмо, меццо-сопрано Доротея, а также дебютантка Луиджия, оставшаяся в тени славы примадонны – поначалу действуют согласованно, но постепенно их профессиональные амбиции и личные интересы начинают преобладать над целью поставить спектакль и выливаются в серию театральных интриг, любовных историй и комических ситуаций. До предела ситуацию обостряет мама Агата, которая врывается на сцену с требованиями предоставить ее дочери Луиджии главную роль в спектакле.
Артисты ссорятся, постановка разваливается на глазах. Но в итоге мама Агата и спасает положение. Премьере – быть.

Опера «Viva la mamma!» в любой стране исполняется, по традиции, на двух языках. Все партии – сольные номера и диалоги героев – звучат в переводе на понятный публике язык, фрагменты оперы-seria, которую репетируют герои спектакля – на итальянском.
