Laura Capretti mezzo-soprano Tommaso Santini violin Lucia Sacerdoni cello Edoardo Momo piano Francesco Parodi percussions Le fil rouge is a musical project born in March 2021 from the encounter, in the common background of the city of Turin, of five musicians united by the desire to try to create an original and transversal sound path. The idea is to develop an imaginary journey into popular music, whether in its most indigenous and visceral form or in its more refined and cultured one. If it is in manifesting and performing itself that popular music comes alive, Le fil rouge, with its unusual ensemble, weaves its character on paper and stave with the help, as far as the arrangements are concerned, of Massimo Pitzianti, a bandoneonist and accordionist who sums up the interpenetration between cultured music and popular tradition the best way, as well as renowned musicians and chamber music musicians such as Antonio Valentino, and very young talents from the composition classes of the ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ Conservatory of Turin. The journey begins with the creation of a sound: everything comes to life from the piano, a multifaceted instrument capable of ‘becoming something else’, which, merging with the sound mixture of the two strings and the rhythmic liveliness of the percussion, provides the basis for the vocal line, from which the linguistic roots and affection of the various pieces will unfold. The quintet will have a dynamic set-up that will allow an agile scene change depending on the sensations to be recalled: it will be possible to witness the silence of the voice, as well as the performance of instrumental pieces in duo, trio or quartet, variously combined. In a fluid itinerary devoid of intellectualistic, abstract, or fictional ambitions, Le fil rouge intends to restore the most authentic meaning of each piece, that disruptive and pulsating force that unites different authors, places, and traditions; that red thread that, though alone, has held us together since the dawn of time. We consider it our responsibility to try not to break this thread, to allow music to be a meeting place that is neither narrow nor mass but simply sincere, where performers can live from what they play and listeners can play and vibrate with them. Although newborn (March 2021), the group won the ‘Chamber Music in Jeans’ call for tenders proposed by Sistema Musica and had the opportunity to perform at the ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ Conservatory of Turin and for the Metamorfosi festival at the Reggia di Venaria.
