What is presented in Sassari, for the 2011 edition of Donizetti's Elisir d'amore is a really young cast, starting with its main female interpreter, Francesca Sassu, who plays the role of Adina. For the first time on the home stage, the young soprano will be able to demonstrate all her worth, as well as the other very young elements of the singing company. L'elisir d'amore was a habitual presence in Sassari as early as the nineteenth century and was recovered by the Concerts Authority in 1975, 1992 and again in 2005. The first performance was in 1832 at the Milanese Cannobiana Theater (today Teatro Lirico dedicated to Giorgio Gaber). The librettist Felice Romani drew the subject from Le philtreby Eugene Scribe, written for the composer Daniel Auber: the poor farmer Nemorino, in love with the beautiful Adina, buys a bottle of elixir of love from the scammer Dulcamara - in reality simple wine. Thanks to the strength of feeling and a pinch of jealousy, the two young people will finally be able to overcome the difficulties.

Quello che si presenta a Sassari, per l'edizione 2011 dell'Elisir d'amore di Donizetti è un cast davvero giovane, a cominciare dalla sua interprete principale femminile, Francesca Sassu, che veste i panni di Adina. Per la prima volta sul palcoscenico di casa, il giovane soprano riuscirà a dimostrare tutto il suo valore, così come gli altri giovanissimi elementi della compagnia di canto. L'elisir d'amore era una presenza abituale a Sassari già dall'Ottocento e venne recuperato dall'Ente Concerti nel 1975, nel 1992 e ancora nel 2005. La prima rappresentazione fu nel 1832 al Teatro milanese della Cannobiana (oggi Teatro Lirico dedicato a Giorgio Gaber). Il librettista Felice Romani trasse il soggetto da Le philtre di Eugene Scribe, scritto per il compositore Daniel Auber: il contadino povero Nemorino, innamorato della bella Adina, acquista dal truffatore Dulcamara una bottiglia di elisir d'amore - in realtà semplice vino. Grazie alla forza del sentimento e a un pizzico di gelosia, i due giovani riusciranno infine a superare le difficoltà.
