The special musical language of the Impressionists is not common in the opera scene, as the opera literature of the period is represented by relatively few dramatic works. This is one of the reasons why Opera and the SND Ballet have decided to present the works of the great French author Maurice Ravel, his one-piece musical comedy Spanish Hour and Ballet based on ancient Greek mythology Dafnis Chloé as part of a joint opera-ballet evening. However, the combination of different theatrical types is also a free continuation of the dramaturgical line of the Slovak National Theater, winding from the successful project of Bartók's evening with the ballet-opera combination Wooden Prince and  Castle of Prince Modrofúza, which received a very positive response some time ago.

In Ravel's conception, the classic comedy plot is a charming and colorful canvas with new sound-colored shades, sensitively and concisely reacting to grotesque situations. It is possible to have fun with them - even to think about issues of human relations and the failure of marital fidelity. The author gives us all this through an exclusive musical aesthetics.
