Year of Choirs 2022 - With John Rutter's Magnificat, the opera choir presents a sacred work that combines musical traditions with modern and popular sounds. The composer, who was born in London in 1945, used not only the traditional hymn of praise to the Blessed Mother Mary, as also set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach, but also an English song from the 15th century as a textual basis and was also inspired by the happy Marian festivals in Latin American cultures.
