Torna –  venerdi 10 marzo, ore 20.30 e domenica 12 marzo, ore 16.30 – al Teatro Goldoni di Livorno dopo un decennio di assenza MANON LESCAUT, l’opera giovanile di Giacomo Puccini andata in scena per la prima volta con grande successo al Teatro Regio di Torino nel 1893: la prima creazione teatrale in cui si rivela nella sua compiutezza il genio del grande compositore lucchese, prima della clamorosa consacrazione della “trilogia popolare” composta dalla Bohème (1896), Tosca (1900) e Madama Butterfly (1904).
Manon è opera di grande forza musicale e teatrale, sospesa tra gli umori di un romanticismo estremo di ascendenza wagneriana, le suggestioni del teatro musicale francese di fine Ottocento, le influenze del verismo da poco sbocciato con la Cavalleria mascagnana e le tentazioni neoclassiche legate alla stilizzazione dell’ambiente del Settecento elegante e corrotto in cui si consuma la tragica passione amorosa che lega la protagonista a Renato Des Grieux: un amore travolgente e fatale che ha fatto parlare di Manon Lescaut come di un Tristano e Isotta “all’italiana”.
Il ritorno della Manon pucciniana al Goldoni è legata alla ricognizione sulla produzione del compositore toscano, compagno di studi e amico-rivale del labronico Mascagni, già da qualche anno intrapresa dal nostro Teatro con le proposte nelle ultime stagioni di titoli quali Bohème, Tosca e Butterfly e con la Fanciulla del West per la prossima stagione.

Il nuovo allestimento curato dal Teatro Goldoni e coprodotto con il Teatro Verdi di Pisa ed il Teatro Sociale di Rovigo, avrà come responsabili dello spettacolo Alberto Veronesi, il direttore d’orchestra affermato a livello internazionale e Presidente del festival Pucciniano ed il regista romano Lev Pugliese, che firma anche le scene ed i costumi, particolarmente sensibile ai nuovi linguaggi della messinscena virtuale, che punterà, in questo nuovo allestimento realizzato quasi totalmente in house su una lettura onirica e psicologica dell’opera pucciniana, partendo da quel deserto e da quella “landa desolata” in cui si conclude la vicenda, vera espressione del “deserto dell’anima” della protagonista.
Cast di grande interesse, con due acclamate interprete pucciniane, Rachele Stanici e Donata D’Annunzio Lombardi, nel ruolo del titolo, la presenza di uno specialista pucciniano quale il tenore brasiliano Ricardo Tamura più volte applaudito protagonista al Metropolitan di New York, a cui subentrerà Danilo Formaggia applauditissimo a Livorno nelle Maschere mascagnane del centenario e da qualche anno incline ad approfondire ruoli di lirico-spinto; accanto a loro l’esperto Sergio Bologna nel ruolo di Lescaut a cui si alternerà il baritono coreano Leon Kim già vincitori di numerosi concorsi internazionali; il ruolo Geronte di Ravoir sarà interpretato in entrambe le recite dal baritono Carmine Monaco d’Ambrosìa, anch’egli artista di grande esperienza ed applaudito tra l’altro nei Teatri toscani lo scorso anno quale interprete nella Vedova allegra prodotta da LTL Opera Studio; con loro giovani artisti, in gran parte legati ai progetti formativi del Teatro o espressione del nostro territorio.

The return of Manonpucciniana at Goldoni is linked to the survey on the production of the Tuscan composer, fellow student and friend-rival of the Labronic Mascagni, already undertaken by our Theater for some years with the proposals in the last few seasons of titles such as Bohème, Tosca and Butterfly and with the Fanciulla of the West for next season.

The new staging curated by the Teatro Goldoni and co-produced with the Teatro Verdi of Pisa and the Teatro Sociale of Rovigo, will have Alberto Veronesi , the internationally renowned conductor and President of the Pucciniano festival and the Roman director Lev Pugliese as managers of the show , who also signs the sets and costumes, particularly sensitive to the new languages ​​of virtual staging, which will focus, in this new production almost entirely in-house on a dreamlike and psychological reading of Puccini's work, starting from that desert and from that " wasteland" in which the story ends, a true expression of the "desert of the soul" of the protagonist.
Castof great interest, with two acclaimed Puccini interpreters, Rachele Stanici and Donata D'Annunzio Lombardi , in the title role, the presence of a Puccini specialist such as the Brazilian tenor Ricardo Tamura repeatedly applauded protagonist at the Metropolitan in New York, who will be replaced by Danilo Formaggia highly acclaimed in Livorno in Maschere mascagnane of the centenary and for some years inclined to deepen lyric-spinto roles; next to them the expert Sergio Bologna in the role of Lescaut who will alternate with the Korean baritone Leon Kim, already winners of numerous international competitions; the Geronte role of Ravoirit will be interpreted in both performances by the baritone Carmine Monaco d'Ambrosìa , also an artist of great experience and applauded in the Tuscan Theaters last year as an interpreter in the Merry Widow produced by LTL Opera Studio; with them young artists, largely linked to the training projects of the Theater or expression of our territory.
