The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater cherishes a beautiful tradition - to mark the Day of Defenders of Freedom with a special concert, during which the most outstanding works of sacred music are performed in honor of and in memory of the fallen Defenders of Freedom. 2022 January 13 will be played by G. Verdi Requiem , created for the Italian writer, humanist, poet and hero Alessandro Manzoni, with whom the composer befriended and admired all his life. The Requiem was first performed in 1874. May 22 St. Milan In Mark's Cathedral on the occasion of the anniversary of Manzoni's death, Verdi himself conducted it. To date, G. Verdi’s Requiem is usually performed in concerts and, along with WA Mozart’s Requiem, is considered the strongest example of the genre. This Requiem, which undoubtedly has many of the characteristics of G. Verdi's operas, is sometimes even called "opera in church clergy". The music in it rages wildly from clear, spiritual, heavenly vocals to the heavy sound of brass-filled brass.

Our concert will feature LNOBT and Kaunas State Choirs, famous soloists - Italian opera prima donna, soprano whose voice ranges from Milan La Scala Theater to Tokyo Opera - Chiara Isotton, as well as Justina Gringytė, Kristian Benedikt, Kostas Smoriginas, LNOBT Symphony Orchestra artistic director Sesto Quatrini.
