"Time is a strange thing" is perhaps the most famous line from the opera "Der Rosenkavalier" by Richard Strauss. Perhaps because it is true and we all reflect on the mysterious passing of time from time to time. This concert, in which excerpts from this opera and from "Die Frau ohne Schatten" are on the programme, is a good opportunity to do just that. Mozart was certainly ahead of his time when he wrote his famous Symphony K. 201. With it, he freed himself from his "superfather" Joseph Haydn and found his own ingenious style. His 26th piano concerto, on the other hand, puts us in a festive mood; it is also called the "Coronation Concerto" and was intended to put the audience in an upbeat mood for the coronation of Leopold II in 1789.

"Die Zeit, die ist ein sonderbar Ding", das ist die vielleicht bekannteste Zeile aus der Oper "Der Rosenkavalier" von Richard Strauss. Vielleicht deshalb, weil sie wo wahr ist und wir alle ab und an über das rätselhafte Vergehen der Zeit nachdenken. Gut kann man das auch in diesem Konzert, in dem Auszüge aus dieser per und aus der "Frau ohne Schatten" auf dem Programm stehen. Seiner Zeit voraus jedenfalls war Mozart, als er seine berühmte Sinfonie KV 201 schrieb. Mit ihr machte er sich von seinem "Übervater" Joseph Haydn freu und fand ganz zu seinem eigenen genialen Stil. Sein 26. Klavierkonzert dagegen versetzt uns in festliche Stimmung, es heißt auch "Krönungskonzert" und sollte dagegen hat er ganz "klassisch" komponiert, es sollte zur Krönung von Leopold II. im Jahr 1789 das Publikum in gehobene Stimmung versetzen.
