OPER’ACTUEL | Works in progress est un événement phare de Chants Libres qui participe à l’émergence de nouvelles formes d’opéra, en plus de favoriser la relève chez les jeunes chanteurs et de participer au développement des publics.

Pour cette 8e édition, Chants Libres invite Florence Blain Mbaye à titre de commissaire pour l’événement. Artiste interprète interdisciplinaire, hautboïste professionnelle, comédienne, chanteuse, Florence souhaite élaborer une programmation qui invite le milieu de la création lyrique à s’interroger sur la nature et le rôle du chanteur, de l’interprète lyrique dans sa vocalité, sa musicalité, sa corporéité et dans sa relation avec le compositeur.trice et le librettiste.

À l’heure où la création lyrique doit œuvrer à sa décolonisation et à son décloisonnement, quel rôle peut jouer le chanteur dans ce processus?

OPER’ACTUEL | Works in progress is a highlight event of Chants Libres, which helps bring to life new operas while also familiarising young singers and the public with new forms of musical expression.

For this 8th edition, Chants Libres is inviting Florence Blain Mbaye as curator of the event. An interdisciplinary performer, professional oboist, actress and singer, Florence aims to develop a programme that invites the world of opera creation to question the nature and role of the singer, the opera performer in his or her vocality, musicality and physicality, and in his or her relationship with the composer and librettist.

At a time when operatic creation must work to decolonise and decompartmentalise, what role can the singer play in this process?
