Divorces by anyone other than death were uncommon 300 years ago, but farewells – even permanent ones – were the order of the day. As if to prove this, at the beginning of Bach's tongue-in-cheek farewell cantata for the departure of a certain Studiosus named Lorenz Beck from Leipzig to Ansbach it says »Non sa che sia dolore / Chi dall'amico suo parte e non more« (»Don't know what pain is, who parted from his friends and did not die.«). The orchestra of the JS Bach Foundation conducted by Rudolf Lutz is performing the first performance of the work in the Vienna Konzerthaus in almost 60 years, in what is now their third guest performance as part of the Bach cantatas cycle. The prima donna of the evening is the Catalan star soprano Núria Rial, who also composed Bach's wedding cantata »Weichet nur,

Ehescheidungen durch jemand anderen als den Tod waren vor 300 Jahren unüblich, Abschiede dagegen – auch endgültige – standen an der Tagesordung. Wie zum Beweis dafür heißt es zu Beginn von Bachs augenzwinkernder Abschiedskantate zum Abgang eines  gewissen Studiosus namens Lorenz Beck von Leipzig nach Ansbach »Non sa che sia dolore / Chi dall’amico suo parte e non more« (»Nicht weiß, was Schmerz sei, wer von seinen Freunden scheidet und nicht stirbt.«). Die erste Wiederaufführung des Werks im Wiener Konzerthaus seit beinah 60 Jahren realisiert das Orchester der J. S. Bach-Stiftung unter Rudolf Lutz bei seinem mittlerweile dritten Gastspiel im Rahmen des Zyklus Bach-Kantaten. Primadonna des Abends ist die katalonische Starsopranistin Núria Rial, die auch Bachs Hochzeitskantate »Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten« frühlingshaften Glanz verleihen wird.
