Le finale de la Neuvième de Beethoven, avec la célèbre Ode à la joie, c’est l’entrée de la voix (soliste et chorale) dans l’univers instrumental de la symphonie. Un événement d’une immense portée, dans lequel Wagner verra les prémices de “l’art de l’avenir”. En guise de prélude à ce monument de l’histoire de la musique, Philippe Aïche joue le concerto que Chostakovitch avait dédié à David Oistrakh pour son soixantième anniversaire.

Chostakovitch et Beethoven sont deux compositeurs qui s’adressent directement au peuple. Le Russe épouse l’histoire de son pays avec de grandes fresques symphoniques, l’Allemand interpelle nos consciences pour faire avancer l’humanité. Dans sa Neuvième Symphonie, Beethoven utilise l’éclatante Ode à la joie de Schiller. Avec un grand orchestre, des chanteurs et un chœur, le compositeur convie le monumental en musique pour soulever nos âmes en nous interpellant ainsi : “Monde, pressens-tu ton créateur ? Cherche-le au-dessus de la voûte étoilée ! C'est au-dessus des étoiles qu'il doit habiter.”

The finale of Beethoven’s Ninth, with the famous Ode to Joy, marked the moment when voice (both soloist and choir) first entered the world of instrumental symphony. It was a great and far-reaching event, in which Wagner saw a vision of the art of the future. As a prelude to this major landmark piece of music history, Philippe Aïche will be performing the concerto Shostakovitch dedicated to David Oistrakh for his sixtieth birthday.
