The inaugural CMI 210 Festival is a collaborative offering and celebration of music education and performance. The festival will be held from June 10 to June 24 at various locations including the Edgewood Fine Arts S.T.E.A.M. Academy and the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. We will offer the OSA-CMI Summer Voice Program—a fellowship program for voice students and graduates providing the opportunity to study and teach with each organization’s artist faculty. In addition to education, the celebration continues with performances by OSA and CMI throughout the two-week festival. The CMI 210 Festival’s Youth Program, the centerpiece of the festival, is offered to all Bexar County youth as an opportunity to study with CMI’s Artist Faculty during an intensive two-week music education program. Through CMI’s partnership with the Edgewood Independent School District and the generous support of Bexar County, 98% of students have participated at no cost since 2016. The Teaching-Artist Fellowship brings early-career voice teachers to our community to work with youth participants and senior faculty to hone their pedagogical skills in a one-of-a-kind program. The Apprentice Artist program provides coaching and performance opportunities for early-career singers ready to take the stage. Finally, the Collegiate Voice Program serves as a safe space for young singers to explore their art form and broaden their network of connections. With these programs combined under the OSA-CMI partnership, we’re able to offer a noteworthy and flexible experience that helps provide the tools to our participants to bridge the gap between the years of honing their craft and the moment they first step into the spotlight as a professional performing artist.
