Pablo Sainz-Villegas has been praised by the international press for his "virtuosic and moving performance, of irresistible exuberance and a range of vivid colors" The New York Times. Undoubtedly the most virtuoso guitarist of his generation, Pablo Sainz-Villegas has been acclaimed by the international press as the successor of Andrés Segovia and an ambassador of Spanish culture in the world, being the first solo guitarist to play at Carnegie Hall in New York since Maestro Andrés Segovia in 1983. the first guitarist to perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2001 and the first guitarist to perform with the Berliner Philharmoniker at the New Year's Concert since 1983. Since his debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, he has performed in more than 40 countries and with orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, and the National Orchestra of Spain and in theaters such as the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the National Center for the Arts in Beijing and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, among others. Among his highlights are the Princess of Asturias Awards Concert, and his participation in the Metropolitan Opera Gala at the Palace of Versailles. Also noteworthy are his massive performances at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid, with more than 85,000 attendees, as well as concerts held in Chicago's Grant Park, the emblematic Praça do Comércio in Lisbon and the illustrious Hollywood Bowl, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Pablo Sainz-Villegas has been awarded more than 30 international prizes including the Andrés Segovia, the Rioja Arts Award, the RNE Ojo Crítico Award and the Trelles Villademoros awarded by the Royal Corps of the Nobility of the Principality of Asturias. He is also Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of La Rioja and a member of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts. He has performed for world leaders such as the Dalai Lama and has performed numerous world premieres, including John Williams' first work written for guitar. A socially committed artist, he is the founder and driving force behind the non-profit association Strings in Common in the US, and creator and artistic director of La Rioja Festival in Spain. As an exclusive artist for SONY Classical, he has released three albums. 'The Blue Album', his latest project, was released in June 2023. Among his commitments for the 2023/2024 season are his tour of Colombia with the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain, the New Year's concert with the Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra, his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra with Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Dubrovnik Festival and Ljubljana Festival, as well as his return to the Elbphiharmonie in Hamburg, among other commitments. Pablo Sainz-Villegas was born in La Rioja (Spain) and has lived in the United States since 2001.
