Plavi Ciklus Debussy / Ibert / Hamami / Dukas
OratoriumConcert
The composition Afternoon of a Faun was composed between 1892 and 1894. It was inspired by the poem Faun's Afternoon by the great French poet and Debussy's friend Stéphane Mallarmé . Claude Debussy interwoven and complemented the poet's poetry with somewhat bizarre but impressive music, subtly underlining the old faun's train of thought as he daydreams about his conquering past. Already the opening theme of the flute bears the seal of restrained sensuality, it occasionally appears during the composition as an echo. The work is richly orchestrated and instrumented. It disappears in a barely audible pianissimo , leaving behind a ravishing impression. Jacques Ibert composed a virtuoso three-movement concerto for flute and a smaller orchestra as in Mozart's time. It has a modernist expression with neo-baroque influence, especially in the first movement. In the second, melodious movement with an audible pentatonic influence, we also hear a wonderful solo by the first violin followed by a flute solo. The third movement begins with playful chords that alternate throughout the entire movement with the soloist's gentle cadences. The concert was first performed in Paris in 1932 and is dedicated to the flute virtuoso, Marcel Mayse. The exciting work Freakollo , composed by Yossi Hamami , was premiered in 2010 in Tel Aviv. The concert is one-movement, virtuosic, with an audible Middle Eastern melody. Paul Dukas's masterpiece is the symphonic poem The Sorcerer's Apprentice , composed in 1897 based on a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This late-romantic, program work composed for large orchestra is subtitled Scherzo . The composition was well-received and regularly performed immediately after its premiere, but it gained great world fame in 1940 as part of the universally popular Disney animated film Fantasia . The composition is consistent with Goethe's text and faithfully follows the incidents and accidents of the clumsy and tragicomic student.
